Mr Nqaba Songezo Mabece

Nqaba Songezo Mabece is the Executive for Institutional Advancement and Internationalisation at IIE Rosebank College, where he is responsible for strengthening the institution’s strategic positioning, visibility, partnerships, and global footprint. In this role, he leads initiatives focused on international collaboration, resource mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and the advancement of the College’s growth agenda within an increasingly competitive higher education sector.

He holds an LLB from the University of Fort Hare, an LLM from Stellenbosch University, and a General Management Programme (GMP) from IEDC–Bled School of Management. His academic and professional foundation in law informs a leadership approach grounded in governance, strategy, and regulatory insight.

Nqaba has undertaken consultancy work at the World Bank Headquarters, contributing to policy- and development-oriented initiatives within a global institutional environment. He has delivered peer-reviewed international conference papers and presentations across South Africa (RSA), Zambia, Kenya, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Slovenia, reflecting sustained engagement in global academic and policy discourse. He is also the author of legal publications published in the United States, South Africa, and Sweden, contributing to international legal scholarship and comparative regulatory debate.

His professional experience spans top-tier law firms, the Constitutional Court of South Africa, and advisory work for the Competition Commission, where he was involved in merger assessments, market conduct investigations, institutional reform processes, and complex Competition Tribunal proceedings. This background has equipped him with deep expertise in regulatory strategy, litigation, policy development, and institutional governance.

Complementing his executive and legal career, Nqaba is an accomplished and nationally recognised broadcaster and legal commentator. He is a regular contributor on SAfm’s Viewpoint and has featured on eNCA’s The People’s Court, where he provides expert legal analysis, public-interest commentary, and facilitates informed debate on constitutional, regulatory, and socio-economic issues. He is widely respected for moderating high-level dialogues and engaging senior leaders across government, academia, and industry, thereby strengthening institutional narratives and public engagement.

He has also served as a guest lecturer at leading institutions including Utah State University, the University of Utah, Howard University, George Washington University, Stellenbosch University, and the University of Fort Hare, contributing to academic exchange and international knowledge transfer.

With established global networks across the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Slovenia, Nqaba brings a distinctly international perspective to his work. His unique blend of legal acumen, strategic leadership, communication expertise, and global engagement positions him to drive both local relevance and international expansion for IIE Rosebank College.
