Dr. Alucia Mabunda

Dr. Alucia Mabunda is a strategic higher education leader with 18 years of professional experience across tourism, banking, telecommunications, and the public and private education sectors. She holds a PhD in Education Management (North-West University), where her doctoral research focused on the management of entrepreneurship training in TVET colleges, and a Master of Education in Education Management, Law and Policy (Cum Laude, University of Pretoria). She also obtained a BEd Honours in Education Management (Cum Laude) and a National Diploma in Human Resource Management.

Her career began as a lecturer and progressed into leadership roles, including heading academics at one of the largest TVET colleges in Gauteng, before her appointment as Campus Head at IIE Rosebank College Nelson Mandela Bay. In her current role, she leads campus transformation, curriculum innovation, and academic excellence initiatives.

Beyond education, Dr. Mabunda has held executive roles in the tourism sector and positions in banking and telecommunications, giving her a multidisciplinary perspective on industry needs and workforce readiness. She is passionate about embedding entrepreneurship in education and equipping graduates with the skills to drive economic advancement. A strong advocate for innovative teaching and learning, she emphasises approaches that prepare students for success in a rapidly changing labour market.

In her personal space, she authored The Quest for a Child, where she advocates for sensitive and compassionate ways of navigating infertility discussions, including within the workplace. Dr. Mabunda has also presented her research at leading international forums, including the SAERA 2025 Conference in South Africa and the 6th TVETIC 2025 International Conference in Malaysia, and she continues to immerse herself in academic publications across diverse fields to remain at the forefront of educational and societal developments.
