The IIE Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) degree will provide candidates with a thorough theoretical grounding and knowledge in the key principles of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Finance, Auditing and Taxation. Thus, The IIE Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) degree is for students who intend to pursue a professional career in Accounting. SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP
The objective of The IIE Bachelor of Accounting degree is to qualify students in the field of accountancy and provide a steppingstone to a range of professional accounting qualifications. The degree is structured in accordance with the new HEQSF guidelines and will provide students with the knowledge, skills and applied competencies identified by professional Accounting bodies.
The IIE Bachelor of Accounting degree is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as an undergraduate degree to prepare students for the Chartered Accountant qualification.

DURATION
This is a three-year qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at IIE Rosebank College.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Distance (Online): This IIE qualification is available online through IIE distance online learning for individuals wanting to study and work. As an IIE distance student, you will receive all your support online from a dedicated team of IIE RC online tutors. Speak to a student advisor for more information
The IIE Bachelor of Accounting is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 360-credit qualification on Level 7 (SAQA ID No: 99284). On successful completion you will receive a Bachelor of Accounting from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), a leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.
THE PATH TO BECOMING A CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT
1. Complete a 3-year SAICA accredited accounting degree.
2. Complete a 1-year SAICA accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting.
3. At the beginning of the training contract with an accredited training provider (usually an audit firm).
4. At the beginning of the training contract, the first of the SAICA professional exams is written, the Initial Test of Competence (ITC).
5. At the end of the 2nd year of the training contract, the second of the SAICA professional exams is written, the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

Exams are written at an exam centre and, in some instances, online. These details will be specified in your programme assessment schedule.
Reliable internet connection (we recommend 5-10 GB of data per month and an internet speed of at least 0.15 Mbps).
Desktop PC or laptop with at least an i3 processor (or Higher) and 4GB RAM memory (or Higher).
Windows 8 (or Higher) or macOS 10.15 (or Higher) (Microsoft Office 365 is available as a free download for IIE students), and Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge Chromium or Firefox.
A working webcam and microphone.
An uninterrupted power supply is also highly recommended.
The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) offers you the opportunity to start with an IIE higher certificate and progress into a diploma, a degree and then articulate into an IIE Postgraduate qualification. There are several pathways offered by The IIE at IIE Rosebank College that enable access to higher-level qualifications, subject to meeting qualification specific admission requirements. To be awarded this qualification, a minimum final year mark of 50% for each module must be achieved.

Free software is available to all registered IIE Rosebank College students. The software includes but is not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access and MS Outlook, which come with the Office 365 bundle. Students can access the software using their RCCONNECT.edu.za email address.
