The IIE Rosebank College Braamfotein Campus recently hosted its first mentorship session, on Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2025, bringing together Graphic Designer students and industry professionals for a valuable learning experience. IIE Rosebank College is a brand of the Independent Institute of Education and is committed to providing students with valuable learning experience. The session offered a unique platform for participants to gain insights into the corporate world and develop essential skills for success. Both speakers shared their expertise, exploring different angles on what it takes to thrive in a professional setting.
Tshepiso Ranoko who’s the IIE RC Alumni, emphasized the importance of preparation and organization in the corporate space. Using the POWER acronym, Tshepiso broke down the key elements of success into Preparing, Organizing, Working, Engaging, and Relaxing. This framework provided participants with a practical approach to managing their time, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. By adopting these strategies, students can set themselves up for success and navigate the demands of the corporate world with confidence.
Presenting is not a student's favorite thing to do and while this is a known apparent fact in a university setting, Keabetswe Letaoana one of the speakers shared different insights to make it more approachable. As she emphasized, 'Confidence is key, and it starts with preparation.' She walked the students through essential aspects of presentations, including body language, content planning, and tone. When a student asked about dress code for interviews, Keabetswe wisely advised, 'Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.' Her practical tips and expertise helped students see presentations in a new light, and they left feeling more confident and prepared to take on the challenge
The success of the first mentorship session is a testament to the commitment of IIE Rosebank College to providing students with the support and resources they need to succeed. By hosting events like this, the IIE RC College demonstrates its dedication to fostering a community of students who are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in their chosen careers. We look forward to future sessions and the opportunities they will bring for students to grow and develop.
