NB: Admission criteria vary on the type of qualification.
If you are an international student, you must ensure that:
- you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
- your equivalent qualification is evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
- you have a valid study visa from the Department of Home Affairs issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.
- Degree exemption from Universities South Africa, formerly Higher Education South Africa (HESA):
The Matriculation Board of Universities South Africa regulates admission to bachelor degree studies by requiring all applicants who are completing or have completed their schooling outside of South Africa or through a system other that the South African National Senior Certificate examinations to fulfil the criteria that the Board has set for that system. For international students, the procedure in "The International Student Handbook – Appendix 1" must be followed and for South African students, The IIE "Conditional Admissions Based on not Meeting Entrance Requirements-: South African Students - Application and Monitoring Procedure" must be followed. Universities South Africa issues a certificate of exemption (conditional or complete) to such applicants. Students who have been issued with a degree exemption certificate must still meet any specific/additional admission requirements of The IIE degree programmes in order to qualify for admission.
To avoid any disappointment we recommend that you register and pay your deposit, especially when applying in January and February. If you are an international student refer to the international student section on the FAQ document.
