​​In order to be awarded this qualification, you must have achieved a minimum final year mark of fifty percent (50%) for each module of the programme, and have met all Work Integrated Learning requirements.​​ ​ In some, but limited instances some modules may change. At the time of registration, please check that the entry requirements have not changed.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) offers a variety of quality, accredited IT qualifications for you to choose from. The IIE Higher Certificate in IT in Support Services will equip the student with the skills to provide technical assistance and computer related support in the business environment. Subjects focus on end-user computing, helpdesk support, basic web development as well as business practice and communication. This qualification will offer a technical background in the discipline of network and applications.

Upon completion of this qualification you can work as a Support or Network Technician or Web Developer.

SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP​

Skills that will be developed include planning, organizing managing and controlling and self-motivation. Self-motivation, effective listening skims and stress management.

TIME NEEDED TO COMPLETE YOUR QUALIFICATION

Full-time: This is a one year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at Rosebank College. Full-time lectures take place during the day on weekdays. For more details speak to client service officer on campus. Programme offered at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Pretoria Sunnyside, Polokwane, Pietermaritzburg, Bloemfontein and Durban CBD.

Part-time: This is an 18 month part-time qualification, please consult our student advisor for full qualification fees. There will be a future fee as this is an 18 month qualification and the fees displayed on the website are annual fees and not the full qualification. Qualification offered part-time at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Pretoria CBD and Durban CBD.

THE WEIGHT YOUR FUTURE QUALIFICATION CARRIES

This higher certificate is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at Level 5 (SAQA ID NO: 81866). On successful completion you will receive a Higher Certificate in Information Technology in Support Services from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.

Use this certificate as a stepping-stone to furthering your academic career. Once you qualify, you will have the wonderful opportunity of studying The IIE Diploma in Information Technology in Network Management, The IIE diploma in Information Technology in Software Development, The IIE diploma in Information Technology Management or The IIE Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Systems degree through Rosebank College.​


 

WHAT GETS YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR?

 To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:

  • NSC (​National Senior Certificate​) with Higher Certificate admission- A minimum of 30 % for English is required; OR
  • NC(V) (National Certificate (Vocational)​) with  Higher Certificate admission – A minimum of 40 % in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level, with a minimum of 40% in Life Orientation and a minimum of 50% in four vocational subjects; OR
  • A SC (without endorsement) or equivalent– A minimum of 5 subjects must be passed.
  • Additional admission requirements apply to students with a School of Tomorrow (SOT) certificate. Please contact the Head of Department at the campus closest to you for more information.

 

Mature Age Exemption:

  • Candidates must have attempted matric/Grade 12, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years' work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communicative skills; OR
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.
RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate's resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate's discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).

 

If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is e valuated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid study visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.  ​
