The Higher Certificate in Business Management qualification is also offered through online learning. This IIE qualification combines management, business, marketing and human resource skills to ensure well-rounded learning. It also offers the perfect platform to pursue a Business Administration Degree upon completion.

ONLINE LEARNING

Studying through online learning allows you the flexibility to upskill yourself and do other things such as work, it is worth mentioning that textbooks for those studying online IIE qualifications are included. We all know how expensive it can be to purchase study material, we have therefore included ebooks in your distance learning tuition fees


WHAT YOU CAN BECOME

Upon graduation you can work in any business department managing diaries, organizing documents, arranging meetings and fact checking documents. Career options include an assistant to a business manager or business administrator.

DISTANCE OR ONLINE LEARNING

This qualification can also be completed on the distance learning option. Distance modules are only offered in bundles, there are two bundles (semester 1 and semester 2). You can do a maximum of two bundles a year and you cannot register for individual modules. Speak to your sales consultant for more information on the bundles.

GETTING THE BEST OUT OF YOUR ONLINE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

To ensure that you get the most out of your online learning experience you will need a laptop or digital device with a sound card, a web cam and have access to the internet.  




ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate admission- A minimum of 30 % for English is required; OR
  • A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) with Higher Certificate admission – A minimum of 40 % in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level,  with a minimum of 30 % in either Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy, a minimum of 40% in Life Orientation and a minimum of 50% in four vocational subjects; OR
  • A Senior Certificate (SC)  (without endorsement) or equivalent– A minimum of five of the six required subjects must be passed.


Mature Age Exemption:

  • Candidates must have attempted the Senior Certificate, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years' work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communication skills; OR
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.

RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate's resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate's discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).


If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is e valuated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid study visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.
