​​In order to be awarded this qualification, you must have achieved a minimum final year mark of fifty percent (50%) for each module of the programme, and have met all Work Integrated Learning requirements.​​ ​ In some, but limited instances some modules may change. Software to be used in your discipline include MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, MS Power Point and MS Outlook, which come with Office 365 bundle. In addition, the following can be accessed: CentOs, Hyper-V, Microsoft Visio, and Web Expression 4 sp2. These can be accessed for free using the FTP file server with your rcconnect email account.

This IIE IT Management qualification offered at Rosebank College qualifies students to follow a successful career in IT Management. This qualification is well aligned to industry requirements and is also fully structured to skill students wishing to enter the workplace as self-employed individuals, ideally after a few years of experience with an existing organization.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

​​WHAT YOU CAN BECOME​

Upon graduation you can become an IT Technician, IT Administrator, Junior IT Consultant or work your way up to become IT Trainee Managers.

SKILLS YOU WILL DEVELOP​

Students will be equipped to perform a variety of practical procedures, networking and basic computer maintenance and repair operations. The management components of the diploma include finance, management concepts, and some human resource management concepts and so, aim to equip the students adequately for industry.

TIME NEEDED TO COMPLETE YOUR QUALIFICATION

Full-time: This is a three year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at Rosebank College. Lectures take place during the day on weekdays. Qualification offered at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Pretoria Sunnyside, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane, Durban CBD. and Port Elizabeth

This Diploma is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) on Level 6 (SAQA ID No: 71636). On successful completion you will receive a Diploma in Information Technology Management from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.

InternationalA SAQA Evaluation Certificate with NSC L4 equivalence with 30% or equivalent in English.

Alternatively, a Higher Certificate (or equivalent) or Advanced Certificate in a cognate field may satisfy the minimum admission requirements to diploma studies.

 

If discipline not cognate at least 20% of credits must be academic literacy or numeracy related

 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)Candidates must demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate's resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate's discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).
USAf approved cognate foundation programme Candidates who have completed an USAf approved cognate foundation programme from a registered and accredited provider may be admitted.
Transfer studentsCandidates who have successfully completed at least 120 credits on the first year of a cognate 3- year diploma may be admitted.  However, if a student completed less than 120 credits, the admission criteria on the NSC or equivalent or higher certificate or advanced certificate apply.
OQSF qualificationsCandidates with an OQSF Level 5 cognate qualification may be admitted, provided the OQSF qualification has at least 120 credits at NQF Level 5.
General Education Development (GED) - An USA qualification developed by the American Council on Education (ACE)Candidates with a GED qualification may be admitted if they have a SAQA Evaluation certificate with NSC L4 equivalence as well as A score of at least 38 for Academic Literacy (AL) and a score of at least 38 for Quantitative Literacy (QL).

Mature Age Exemption:

  • Candidates must have attempted the Senior Certificate, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years' work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communication skills; OR
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.

RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate's resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate's discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).

If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is e​valuated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid stu​dy visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.
