​​In order to be awarded this qualification, you must have achieved a minimum final year mark of fifty percent (50%) for each module of the programme, and have met all Work Integrated Learning requirements.​​ ​ In some, but limited instances some modules may change. At the time of registration, please check that the entry requirements and fees have not changed.​​​

The IIE Diploma in Computer-based Graphic Development is a sought after graphic design qualification offered at Rosebank College. This qualification develops mainly the following skills, creative thinking, visual communication ​and graphic design. 


If you are interested in visual communication and have a key interest in creative design, layout and graphics then this IIE qualification presents you with the opportunity to become a desktop publisher, graphic designer, graphic illustrator or a start a career in web development and art direction.  


Students of this IIE qualification will develop their creative, design and illustration skills. Learn to use graphic design software, create brochures, business cards, web pages, videos and much more.


Full-time: This is a 3 year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at Rosebank College. Lectures take place during the day on weekdays. Qualification offered at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Pretoria CBD and Durban CBD.


Use this Diploma as a stepping stone to furthering your academic career. Once you qualify, you will have the wonderful opportunity of studying The IIE Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Systems Degree through Rosebank College.


This Diploma is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered with the South African Qualifications Authority on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) on Level 6 (SAQA ID No: 80006). On successful completion you will receive a Diploma in Computer-based Graphic Development from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa. ​


 To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:



• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Diploma admission- A minimum of 30 % for English coupled with a minimum of 40% for four x 20 credit subjects is required; OR
• A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) with Diploma admission – A minimum of 50 % in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level AND Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy AND Life Orientation – a minimum of 60% in the three compulsory and 50% in one vocational subjects is required; OR
• A Senior Certificate (SC) (without endorsement) or equivalent– A minimum of five of the required six subjects must be passed; OR
• Alternatively, a Higher Certificate (or equivalent) or Advanced Certificate in a cognate field may satisfy the minimum admission requirements to diploma 


Mature Age Exemption:

• Candidates must have attempted the  Senior Certificate, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years’ work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communication skills; OR
• Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.

RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate’s resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate’s discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).

If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is e​valuated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid stu​dy visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.
