The IIE Diploma in Computer-Based Graphic Development is a sought-after graphic design qualification offered at IIE Rosebank College. This qualification develops three different skills tracks throughout the course: creative thinking, visual communication and graphic development which involves manipulating images, creating print layouts and web design. All three of these knowledge disciplines are introduced to the students at a basic level in the first year and then progress in complexity at the required level in a logical manner.

Full-time: This is a three-year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at IIE Rosebank College. Full-time lectures take place during the day on weekdays at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria CBD.

The IIE Diploma in Computer Based Graphic Development is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 372-credit qualification on Level 6 (SAQA ID No: 80006). On successful completion you will receive a Diploma in Computer-Based Graphic Development from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), a leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.

Senate Discretionary AdmissionsMature Age ExemptionCandidates must have attempted the Senior Certificate or equivalent, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years' work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communication skills; OR Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)Where candidates do not satisfy the formal admission requirements for this qualification, The IIE may consider an admission application in terms of the Credit Accumulation and Transfer, Recognition of Prior Learning and Qualification Completion Policy (IIE010).
USAf approved cognate foundation programmeCandidates who have completed an USAf approved cognate foundation programme from a registered and accredited provider may be admitted.
Transfer studentsCandidates who have successfully completed at least 120 credits on the first year of a cognate 3- year diploma may be admitted.  However, if a student completed less than 120 credits, the admission criteria on the NSC or equivalent or higher certificate or advanced certificate apply.
OQSF qualificationsCandidates with an OQSF Level 5 cognate qualification may be admitted, provided the OQSF qualification has at least 120 credits at NQF Level 5.
General Education Development (GED) - An USA qualification developed by the American Council on Education (ACE)Candidates with a GED qualification may be admitted if they have a SAQA Evaluation certificate with NSC L4 equivalence as well as A score of at least 38 for Academic Literacy (AL) and a score of at least 38 for Quantitative  Literacy (QL).

Mature Age Exemption:

• Candidates must have attempted the  Senior Certificate, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years’ work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communication skills; OR
• Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.

RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate’s resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate’s discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).

If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is e​valuated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid stu​dy visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.
