​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This qualification focuses on Information Technology Management and specialises in Business Analysis. Information Technology (IT) as a whole remains a skill in short supply in South Africa and the demand for people with the skills to analyse business elements and processes with the added ability to design IT solutions is extremely high.


IIE Graduates will enter the industry as IT solution specialists or IT consultants. Graduates can also become a solutions architect, information systems analyst or IT business analyst.


Further develop your interest in both Business and Information Technology, and expand on your creative, analytical and problem solving skills.


Full-time: This is a three year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) at Rosebank College. Qualification offered at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Cape Town, Pretoria CBD, Pietermaritzburg, Durban CBD, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Polokwane. 


This Degree is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) on Level 7 (SAQA ID NO: 97804). On successful completion you will receive a Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Systems from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.



 To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:.​

  • A  National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Degree admission- A minimum of 30 % for English coupled with a minimum of 50% for four x DESIGNATED NSC subjects (This excludes LO which is a 10 credit subject); OR
  • A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) with Degree admission – A minimum of 60 % in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level AND Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy AND Life Orientation , with a minimum of 70% in the  four  vocational subjects is required;  OR
  • A Senior Certificate (SC) (with endorsement) or equivalent  is required; OR
  • Alternatively, a Higher Certificate, an Advanced Certificate, 240 or 360 credit Diploma in a cognate field may satisfy the minimum admission requirements to degree studies

Mature Age Exemption:

  • Candidates having attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with a  Senior Certificate with a minimum of 40% in at least four higher or standard grade subjects, at least three of which shall have been passed simultaneously and one of which shall be a recognised higher grade subject; OR
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.

RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate's resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate's discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).

If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid study visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.​
