The IIE Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing qualification allows IIE graduates to pursue a career in marketing. This marketing degree will prepare you to enter the creative, fast-paced business of promoting, developing and selling products to unique customer markets. 


The IIE Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing qualification targets students who are looking to become Marketing practitioners. Other career opportunities include becoming a marketing management practitioner, public relations manager, marketing consultant, marketing researcher, digital marketer, sales manager or customer relations manager.


Upon graduation, IIE graduates will be able to strategically analyse and solve business problems within the discipline of marketing. Furthermore, IIE graduates will be adequately prepared to make innovative decisions that are critical to the development and implementation of a variety of solutions for modern business ventures within the area of marketing.  


Full-time: This is a three-year full-time qualification offered by The Independent Institute of Education at Rosebank College. Full-time lectures take place during the day on weekdays. Distance: This IIE qualification can also be completed as a distance learning option. This qualification can also be completed on the distance learning option. Distance modules are only offered in bundles, there are two bundles (semester 1 and semester 2). You can do a maximum of two bundles a year and you cannot register for individual modules. Speak to your sales consultant for more information on the bundles.

This Bachelor’s Degree is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 373-credit qualification on Level 7 (SAQA ID NO: 101591). On successful completion you will receive a Degree in Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa. 

Minimum Admission Requirements:

To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor admission -  A minimum of 30 % for English is required coupled with a minimum of 50% in four recognised 20-credit NSC subjects (Exl. LO);

A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) with Bachelor admission – A minimum of 60 % for English with a minimum of 60 % in either Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy, a minimum of 60% in Life Orientation with a minimum of 70 % in the  four  vocational subjects;

A Senior Certificate (SC) (with endorsement);

A Senior Certificate (SC) with Bachelor admission

Higher Certificate, an Advanced Certificate, 240 or 360 credit Diploma in a cognate field may satisfy the minimum admission requirements to degree studies.

Alternatively, If discipline not cognate at least 20% of credits must be academic literacy or numeracy related.

​Mature Age Exemption:

  • Candidates having attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with a  Senior Certificate with a minimum of 40% in at least four higher or standard grade subjects, at least three of which shall have been passed simultaneously and one of which shall be a recognised higher grade subject; OR Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration. 
  • An USAf Exemption Certificate is required

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

  • Candidates must demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate’s resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate’s discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).

School of Tomorrow (SOT)
(last date of achievement 30 June 2019):

Candidates who have successfully completed an SOT qualification may be conditionally admitted directly into the 1st year of the degree, provided that they have:
    a) submitted their SOT certificate along with a statement of results and have achieved at least 50 % in 4 recognised 20-      credit NSC subjects - using the SOT National Conversion Table;
    b) achieved the following for the National Benchmark Tests (NBT)- AQL: - Academic Literacy (AL) score of at least 51          AND an Quantitative Literacy (QL) score of at least 38

An USAf Exemption Certificate is required   -   the Office of the Registrar will facilitate, on behalf of the student, an application for a degree exemption certificate to USAf, once the student has provided proof of payment to USAf.

  • An USAf Exemption Certificate to degree studies is required.
  • A valid study visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.
