Exam Preparation: Tips & Tricks

23 October 2018: Do exams make you anxious? Are you worried that you haven’t prepared enough? Tackle your exams head on by preparing as much as possible before the big day with our exam preparation tips and tricks.

Cramming stores information in your short term memory. During your cramming sessions you may think that you have learnt the material but that’s not likely. Information stored during cramming will likely be forgotten after two days. Cramming cheats you out of true education.

It’s very important that you give yourself enough time to study. By creating a balanced study plan and schedule, you have enough time to study each subject completely and also boost your exam performance.

Research shows that studying while listening to music or watching television isn’t the most effective way to study. If you have to listen to music then stick to instrumental music.

Develop a thorough understanding of course materials by reviewing notes. Make sure that your notes make sense to you as soon as possible.

Reviewing your work constantly allows you to remember information. Remember this is the practice period, a time to identify the gaps in your knowledge.
