​​In order to be awarded this qualification, you must have achieved a minimum final year mark of fifty percent (50%) for each module of the programme, and have met all Work Integrated Learning requirements.​​ ​ In some, but limited instances some modules may change. At the time of registration, please check that the entry requirements and fees have not changed.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Human Resource qualifications educate and qualify students to take up entry level positions in human resource and payroll administration related jobs. The IIE Higher Certificate in Human Resource Practices aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to administer and conduct various human resource functions including payroll administration.


You can specialize in human resource management, or work your way up to a human resource manager position. You could also specialize in payroll administration and management or work as a payroll manager.


You will develop solid administration skills, patience and people skills. 


Full-time: This is a one year full-time qualification with full-time lectures taking place during the day on weekdays. This qualification is offered at the following campuses:  This qualification is offered at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Pretoria CBD, Polokwane, Pietermaritzburg, Bloemfontein and Durban CBD.

Part-time: This is an 18 month part-time qualification, please consult our student advisor for full qualification fees. There will be a future fee as this is an 18 month qualification and the fees displayed on the website are annual fees and not the full qualification. Qualification offered part-time at the following campuses: Braamfontein, Pretoria CBD and Durban CBD.


This qualification can also be completed on the distance learning option. Distance modules are only offered in bundles, there are two bundles (semester 1 and semester 2). You can do a maximum of two bundles a year and you cannot register for individual modules. Speak to your sales consultant for more information on the bundles

No application fee for IIE Distance/Online Learning. 


This Higher Certificate is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). It is also registered with the South African Qualifications Authority on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) on Level 5 (SAQA ID No: 91728). On successful completion you will receive a Higher Certificate in Human Resource Practices from The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) the leading registered private provider of higher education in South Africa.


​Use this Higher Certificate as a stepping stone to furthering your academic career. Once you qualify you will have the wonderful opportunity of studying The IIE Bachelor of Business Administration Degree through Rosebank College.


 To register, you must meet one of the following entry requirements:

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate admission- A minimum of 30 % for English is required; OR
• A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) with Higher Certificate admission – A minimum of 40 % in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level,  with a minimum of 30 % in either Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy, a minimum of 40% in Life Orientation and a minimum of 50% in four vocational subjects; OR
• A Senior Certificate (SC)  (without endorsement) or equivalent– A minimum of five of the six required subjects must be passed.


Mature Age Exemption:

• Candidates must have attempted the  Senior Certificate, attained the age of 23 before or during the first year of registration with three years’ work experience and proven ability relating to the proposed programme as well as adequate communication skills; OR
• Candidates must have attained the age of 45 before or during the first year of registration.

RPL – demonstrate suitability for admission in terms of Senate’s resolution 6.6 of 20 October 2005 which allows for Senate’s discretionary conditional admission (if applicable).


If you are an international student, you must ensure that:

  • you have an equivalent qualification to the aforementioned;
  • your equivalent qualification is e valuated by the South African Quali​​fications Authority (SAQA);
  • you have a valid study visa issued in the name of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) that covers the duration of your studies.  ​
