| Rosebank College is made up of a long history of the coming together of a number of smaller, vocationally focused training providers to form an entity that is Rosebank College today. |

- In 1909 Imperial Underwood Campus (IUC) was founded in Cape Town as a secretarial college
- Over time IUC acquired the Cape Draughting Academy, started Multiskills and had secured rights to provide SIGHT AND SOUND training within South Africa.
- Rosebank College was founded in 1948 as a finishing school for girls based in Rosebank Johannesburg. By the mid-1980's Rosebank College (then trading as Rosebank Business College) had gained reputation as one of South Africa's leading secretarial and computer skills trainers.
- In 1989 Innovative Management Development (IMD) was founded as a Centre for Professional Institute Studies offering three-year professional institute programmes such as IMM, CIS, PRISA, and IPM to full time and part time students. The main campus was situated in Braamfontein and additional campuses in Durban, George and Cape Town. IMD College also offered through Technikon SA (TSA) the TSA BTech degrees in Marketing, Human Resources, Public Relations and Information Technology.
- In the late 1990's; IUC, IMD and Rosebank Business College were acquired by Advtech Ltd. The holding company is a large JSE listed education and recruitment focused group. The three colleges were incorporated into one: Rosebank College.

| All the three providers had (IUC, IMD & Rosebank Business College) long histories of academic excellence, student experience, strong industry relationships with industry partners and corporate stakeholders strongly invested in employing and growing our graduates. Bringing them together brought best practices and systems with a staff and lecturer team dedicated to the student output - always focused on ensuring work readiness in the transition between school leaving and entering the world of work for full-time students. For part-time students, the impact is reached in a form of skills acquired being transferred immediately into the workplace. |
